At Custom Cubes, we’re not a typical fabrication shop—we’re building a high-performance, organized, and safety-driven production environment as we scale rapidly.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Welder/Fabricator plays a key role in fabricating and assembling custom container-based structures. Beyond welding, this role contributes to improving how we work—supporting our 5S and continuous improvement initiatives to build a cleaner, safer, and more efficient shop.
This is an opportunity for experienced welders who take pride in their work and want to grow with a company that is actively investing in its people, processes, and future.
What You’ll Be Doing:

- Layout, fit-up, and assemble components based on drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding procedures, and project requirements.
- Troubleshoot welding and fabrication as well as construction issues and support practical solutions on the shop floor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace aligned with our 5S standards before, during and at the end of each day.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and quality expectations.
- Actively contribute ideas to improve workflow, efficiency, and quality.
- Support and maintain high safety standards in all tasks.
- Prepping surfaces and masking.
- Apply coatings using an airless sprayer.
- Prepping materials in preparation for each job.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience.
- Strong proficiency in GMAW (MIG); multi-process experience is an asset.
- CWB certification (or ability to pass testing in all positions).
- Red Seal certification is a strong asset.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and welding procedures.
- Solid understanding of fabrication tolerances and quality expectations.
- Reliable, team-oriented, and takes ownership of work.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
- Experience painting with an airless sprayer.
- General knowledge gained from experience, of the following skills: Carpentry, door and window installation, wall paneling, and finishing in steel studded units.
- Experience in working safely with a variety of power tools.
- Specialized trades experience in addition to 3 years of general trades experience, is considered an asset.
What Makes This Role Different:
- Growing company with real opportunities – strong performers can grow into Lead Hand, Supervisor, or specialized roles.
- Clear path for advancement – we look to promote from within as the team and operation continue to grow.
- Building a better shop – active implementation of 5S and Lean practices.
- Team-based environment – clear structure, accountability, and support.
- Variety of work – custom projects, not repetitive production line work.
Safety & Culture:
At Custom Cubes, safety is part of how we work every day.
We use 5S to keep the shop organized, efficient, and safe. Maintaining a clean and orderly workspace is an expectation for all team members.
Everyone is responsible for their own work area and for contributing to a safe, respectful, and accountable work environment.
